Inauguration of Satoshi Nakamoto Statue at FPT University
On the morning of April 1, 2026, FPT University held the inauguration ceremony of the Satoshi Nakamoto statue – the mysterious figure considered the father of Bitcoin at Hòa Lạc campus, Hanoi. The event attracted the participation of senior leaders of FPT Corporation and a large number of staff and lecturers from FPT Education.

The highlight of the work lies in its unique design: a 2-meter-high statue made of stainless steel placed on a black stone pedestal, created by Italian artist Valentina Picozzi. The statue features a “vanishing” version where the figure gradually fades and disappears when the viewer changes their perspective from side to front. This is a visual metaphor for Satoshi Nakamoto’s own story: after building the Bitcoin network and handing over full control to the global community, he completely withdrew from the spotlight, leaving no trace.
Message Linked to Vietnam’s Digital Era
Speaking at the inauguration, Dr. Lê Trường Tùng – Chairman of the FPT University Council emphasized the special significance of the unveiling: Vietnam has just officially recognized digital assets and encrypted assets, while also allowing the pilot of the encrypted asset market. The Ministry of Finance has also issued a circular guiding tax policies applicable to transactions related to encrypted assets.
In this context, the presence of the Satoshi statue on campus is not merely an artwork, but a reminder to the younger generation of the value of pioneering thinking, self-learning spirit, and the aspiration to master technology in the digital age.
Vietnam Joins the Group of Nations Honoring Satoshi
With this event, Vietnam officially joins the list of countries erecting statues of Satoshi Nakamoto alongside Hungary, Switzerland, El Salvador, and Japan. Each statue version has its own style, but they all share the same purpose: to acknowledge the historical contributions of the “father of Bitcoin” to the global financial and technological system.
Notably, the previous famous statue version named “We are all Satoshi” – a bronze work by Hungarian sculptors Réka Gergely and Tamás Gilly, is designed so that anyone standing in front of the statue will see their own face reflected back, with the message: anyone can be Satoshi.
